| 堺ブロックチーム アルマンド神父 イエスは私たちの道であり、真理であり、命です。イエスのうちに、イエスによって私たちの命は、完全なものになります。正しく生きるということは、私たちが自分のあるべき姿を目指して、私たち自身を成長させることに由来します。他への奉仕ができるとき、そしてその奉仕に意義を見出すとき、私たちの命は有意義なものとなります。正しく生きるということは、自分のあるべき姿を目指し、神と世界に心を開くことから始まります。父なる神とイエスの深い交わりは、この福音のメッセージの最も重要なテーマです。同時にイエスは、自分と自分の使命に一体感を持つように、弟子たちを招かれます。このように、イエスが道であり、真理であり、命であることが、福音の１節で、聞き取れるのです。イエスを信じる者が永遠の命を受け継ぐのです。また、ご自分と御父との一致とイエスへの信頼を強調なさいます。御父への道を、弟子たちはすでに知っているんだと語られます。道とは、イエスの教えに忠実であり、イエスが生きられたように生きることです。イエスへの道は、私たちの目標に向かう手段であり、また目標そのものです。「その道をどうして知ることができるのでしょうか？」とトマスは質問します。イエスは、福音の最も心に残る要約として、「私は道であり、真理であり、命である」と宣言なさいます。’私はある’はヤーウェご自身の名であり、天の御父の御子であることを弟子たちに、直接語られます。言い換えれば、神の選ばれた民として、真理と命を見つける道は、イエスをとおしてということです。イエスこそが、神と人類との唯一の仲介者なのです。イエスの民としてのわたくしたちにとって、イエスこそが、御父との手本と一致で、御父への道です。イエスは私たちにとって、救いの特有の手段です。神の自己啓示に対する私たちの最も重要な対応は、信仰です。私たちに気をかけてくださる方への信仰です。私たちの健康や必要なこと、喜びや悲しみに気をかけてくださる方への信仰です。信仰はイエスへの対応です。私たちと世界のうちにいてくださるイエスへの私たち個としての対応です。 難破船の唯一の生存者が、小さな無人島に漂流しました。救助されるように、神様に熱心に祈りました。毎日助けがくるか、水平線を見つめていましたが、誰も来ませんでした。あきらめきって流木で小さな小屋を建てることにしました。自分を守るため、またわずかな所持品を納めるためです。ある日食料を探しに行って帰ってみると、彼の小屋は炎に囲まれ、煙が天高く舞い上がっていました。最悪の事態に落ちいり、すべてをなくしました。彼は信仰をなくし、深い悲しみに陥り、怒りをも覚えました。「神様、あなたはどうして私にこんなことをなさることができるのでしょうか？」と叫びました。翌日の早朝、島に近づいている船の音で目覚めました。彼を助けに来たのです。「どうして私がここにいることが分かったのですか？」と尋ねました。あなたの煙を見て助けに来ましたと、彼らは答えました。神様を責めることが、彼の救出の媒介となったのです。事がうまくいかないときにがっかりすることはたやすいです。 しかし途方に暮れてはいけません。神様は、痛みや苦しみのさなかにも私たちの命の内に働いていてくださるからです。あなたの小さなあばら家が燃えているようだったら、神様のお恵みを呼び求める煙の信号かもしれないことを忘れないでください。 私たちは、毎日の生活の中で、キリストが道であり、真理であり、命であるように招かれています。イエスを道としてみるとき、正しい小道へと導いてくださるように信頼することができるのです。イエスを光としてみるとき、信じることができるのです。 From the Gospel of John : I am the Way, the Truth and the Life Fr. Armando T. Romero, CICM Jesus is our way, truth and life and we will receive the fullness of life in and through him.True living comes from developing ourselves to become all that we can be. Our life receives the full meaning when we are able to give ourselves to the service of others and find meaning in that service. Our true living comes by opening ourselves to God and to the world by becoming what we can be. The close identification of Jesus with God the Father is the over-riding theme of this Gospel passage. At the same time Jesus invites his followers to identify themselves with him and his mission. Thus in this Gospel passage we hear him say that he is the way, the truth and the life. Those who believe in him will inherit eternal life. He at the same time stresses on his unity with the Father and our need to trust in him. He tells the disciples that they already know the way to the Father. The way is the obedience to the teachings Jesus gave and live in the manner in which he had lived his life. The way of Jesus is both a method of reaching our goal and the goal itself.Then we have the question of Thomas: “How we can know the way?” Jesus declares who he is in a memorable summary of the Good News: “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”. I Am is Yahweh’s own name and so Jesus directly tells the disciples of the sonship to his heavenly Father. In other words, the way to find the truth and life as God’s chosen people is through Jesus. For, there is only one Mediator, Jesus, between God and mankind. Jesus therefore is for us his people, as he had said so often, the way to the Father, both by example and by identification with the Father. He is our unique means of salvation. Our primary response to God’s self-revelation is one of faith, faith in the one who cares about us, about our well-being and needs, about our joys and sorrows. Faith is a response to the person of Jesus, a personal and individual response to His presence in us and in our world. The only survivor of a shipwreck was washed up on a small, uninhabited island. He prayed feverishly for God to rescue him. Every day he scanned the horizon for help, but none seemed forthcoming. Exhausted, he eventually managed to build a little hut out of driftwood to protect him from the elements, and to store his few possessions. One day after scavenging for food, he arrived home to find his little hut in flames, with smoke rolling up to the sky. He felt the worst had happened, and everything was lost. He was stunned with disbelief, grief, and anger. He cried out, ‘God! How could you do this to me?’ Early the next day, he was awakened by the sound of a ship approaching the island! It had come to rescue him! ‘How did you come to know I was here he asked. They said we the signal of fire smoke you sent and came here to rescue you. The very thing he blamed God for was an instrument to rescue him. It’s easy to get discouraged when things go bad, but we shouldn’t lose heart, because God is at work in our lives, even in the midst of our pain and suffering. Remember that the next time your little hut seems to be burning. It just may be a smoke signal that summons the Grace of God. We are invited to make Christ as the the Way, the Truth and the Life in our own very lives. To see Jesus as a Way makes us trust in him that he will lead us into the right path. To see Jesus as our Light makes us believe |
